Downloads and artifacts
How to download a project's source as a ZIP or the built JAR, when a JAR exists, and what each project type produces.
Updated
A download gives you a project as a ZIP of its source, and Java plugins and mods also as a built JAR once their current files build: on paid plans for every project; without a plan, with downloads from a download pack.
#Who can download
Downloads come with a paid plan, or one at a time:
- Pro, Business and Enterprise download every project and every new version, as often as they like.
- Without a plan, you buy downloads in packs: each click on Download of a .jar or a .zip uses one download, of any project. Downloads are counted per download, not per project: downloading the same project again uses another one (the automatic retries of one click count once). They never expire, and they do not cover the GitHub export or the ZIP of a published project. No plan discount applies to them.
| Pack | Price | Each |
|---|---|---|
| 1 download | $1.67 | $1.67 |
| 5 downloads | $7.83 | $1.57 (-6%) |
| 10 downloads | $14.55 | $1.46 (-13%) |
| 25 downloads | $33.60 | $1.34 (-20%) |
| 50 downloads | $56.01 | $1.12 (-33%) |
- Your downloads are shown next to your tokens at the top of every page. Buy them on Pricing or from the download window of a project.
- The free download Free accounts had from 4 to 6 October 2026 is no longer offered. A version unlocked with it stays downloadable in the form it gave. The files last downloaded while a paid plan was active also stay downloadable.
Everything else stays free on every plan: generating, editing, compiling, trying the project on a real Minecraft server and the tests with test players. The same rule covers the GitHub export and the ZIP of a published project. When a download needs one, Codexe shows the ways: try it free on a test server first, use one of your downloads or buy a pack, or get a plan for every download (with its discount when you have one). After buying a pack you come back to the project and the download starts by itself. The checkout opens in a new tab, so the project stays open.
When Codexe finishes a project and the download is not covered yet, the download window opens by itself once, so you see every way to get your files.
Without a plan the editor shows the start of each source file (see Editing files); a download always contains every file in full.
#Source (ZIP)
Download in the project toolbar (and Source ZIP in Settings → Download) gives you every file of the project as a ZIP, for every project type (see Who can download). The source is yours: you can build it yourself, host it or keep editing it elsewhere.
#Built JAR
Java projects (Spigot/Paper/Folia/BungeeCord plugins, Fabric/Forge mods) can also be downloaded built, with Download JAR:
- If the current files already built successfully (during verification or a Compile), you get that JAR immediately.
- Otherwise Codexe compiles first and then gives you the JAR. If the build fails you get the errors instead of a JAR.
The JAR is named after the project, for example SimpleHomes.jar. Codexe checks it before handing it over: it must contain compiled classes and the descriptor your server or loader needs.
#What each type produces
| Type | What you download |
|---|---|
| Plugins (all Bukkit-family, Folia, proxy) | Source ZIP, and a plugin JAR for plugins/ |
| Fabric / Forge mods | Source ZIP, and a mod JAR for mods/ |
| Datapack | ZIP of the datapack folder (pack.mcmeta + data/), for world/datapacks/ |
| Skript | ZIP with the .sk files, for plugins/Skript/scripts/ |
| Discord bot | ZIP of the bot project (run it with Python or Node.js) |
| Static website / React | ZIP of the site or app |
| Blockbench model | ZIP of the project files |
#No JAR?
A JAR only exists for Java project types, and only when the build succeeds. See Download missing or no JAR.
#Codes
A Codexe code looks like CX-XXXXX-XXXXX and gives downloads, tokens or a month of Pro. Redeem it at codexe.eu/redeem while signed in (also from Have a code? in the download window). Each account can use a code once; some codes expire. A Pro code works on an account without a paid plan and lasts one month, without automatic renewal.
